A driver’s license proves nothing regarding citizenship. These days you should be required to present a birth certificate or passport when voting and when obtaining a driver’s license. The driver’s license can be coded in a particular way to indicate: birth citizenship, citizenship via non-U.S. born, and non-citizen permit. In the age of computers, this can be cross referenced with pictures, last 4 digits of social security number. If that had to be placed on mail in ballots, along with driver’s license or passport number that should eliminate a good portion of the fraud.
See my post below on Michigans requirements. We require a watermarked original birth certificate to get your drivers license. They still work around it though.
It is at least a deterrent.
I am fully prepared to pull my passport out to vote.
