And probably no need to tell that the election had some a bit suspicious occurrences and elements. Like, one, there was one old school statesman trying to get in as a candidate, and in Finland that requires a certain number of votes, or "supporter cards" - people sign a card that is then mailed to the candidate (or it's done electronically, but a lot are still actual paper cards), and once there is enough they can declare they are now in the running. He was somebody who might have gotten a lot of votes, possibly, at least from older citizens more familiar with his decades long career. And he was one of the two who was against joining NATO and kept talking about maintaining good relationships with Russia.
Well, a rather large mailing of his supporter cards kind of got lost in the mail. Afterward they were found in Estonia. Finnish mail was very confused as to how that could have happened, such a mystery. So he could not get in the running at all.
Certainly that was a totally innocent blooper somewhere, nothing suspicious at all, and such a pity, as those cards did not get counted before the deadline he could not run as a candidate.
