When the shooting first started the SS men closet to Trump acted quickly, jumping on his body to protect him.
Then other secret service bounded up the stairs to the stage for additional help. There was this petite female SS agent at the bottom of the stairs. For several seconds she just bent over so she wouldn't get hit.
The female secret service agent with the bun that led Trump out, got on the stage and didn't know what to do. Another agent told her to surround Trump. And she did that, but she was so short, his head was visible and not protected. She was just too short.
The men were calmer and more purposeful. The Director of the Secret Service is Kimberly Cheatle wants the 30% of the SS to be females. There's already an internal petition amongst the SS to have her removed before this happened.
WOMEN AND MEN ARE DIFFERENT WITH DIFFERENT SKILL SETS.
I don't know how many times I've seen female cops try to arrest someone and they can't. They don't have the strength to muscle a man who either beats them up or runs away. Most of the time regular men have to jump in to help.
I know someone who would have made a fantastic fireman. When offered the job he declined because he didn't want to rely on a woman to back him up. He thought it would be too dangerous. And I agree.
Great analysis of the situation. In jobs like this competency and actual ability are what matters, diversity should be the least important thing.
I wouldn't be against having female SS, I could see a slight strategic advantage in them being more unassuming and when protecting other females/kids it might make them more comfortable. I also think women are better than men at reading body language, which I think would be very useful for a job like this.
However, you need to be very cognizant in exactly what skills and ability you are losing and what you are gaining by making that decision. Women have a lot of weaknesses that the rest of the security detail will need to make up for, and everyone should be honest in determining if it's worth it; not worth it for diversity, but worth it as in "Is the team stronger or weaker now?". If weaker, they shouldn't be there.
Yes, it helps to have SOME women. But that tiny thing with the bun taking him off the stage was way too short. His whole face and neck was exposed. Also, when she ran onstage she didn't know what to do. Another SS told her to surround Trump.
The female SS with the pony tail was ducking at the bottom of the stairs, trying not to get shot when the shooting was going on. You can't have people like that, driven by their emotions.
And there was a third female SS overweight and out of shape fumbling around. They were fidgeting with their sunglasses, didn't know what to do with their guns and even fumbled putting them back in the holster.
If you hire women, make sure they are as competent as Gina Carrano or Rhonda Rousey
And the people to surround the target must be taller than the target! They must be designated in advance.
I watched the entire incident frame by frame.
