A commentator on the radio last night, in the first couple hours, said counter snipers are especially trained to locate the source of the sniper fire and eliminate the sniper. They are good at that. They did that. They did that AFTER the sniper had gotten off 8 shots! Killed one and injured three.
Is their job to eliminate the threat before he fires?? That is consistent with protection. Or is it to eliminate the threat after he has fired? Which allows people to be killed.
What are their rules of engagement for an apparent sniper who has not opened fire??
You assume they had had the target sighted behind a reverse slope? I imagine they needed a sight picture to be effective. Nobody knows what they were seeing g through their scopes. That's a huge leap to assume.
Counter snipers don't wait for a go. You lose the window.
Then what were they waiting for?!?
