Yes, in the past if the nominee was not part of the cabal, they would force a cabal member into the vice presidency (Ford, Bush Sr, etc).

However, the RNC is now run by Laura Trump - you don’t really think they are forcing a cabal member in as Trump’s running mate, do you?
