It is probably a couple of things that this accomplishes -

He won't be somewhere and say something stupid about Trump's assassination attempt and spill the beans that it was a coordinated hit.
If they want to, they can use this as an excuse to get FJB out so they can slide Gruesome or Big Mike in there.
