It seems pretty certain this war has involved a lot of witchcraft (“spells”, literally), hypnosis (to put to sleep), vast fortresses of lies, poisoning to corrupt discernment and thought, and has been waged against unknown generations. WWI was probably worse.
One heavy casualty battle waged directly against the awake is a small price to turn the tide.
