There's no way this is an "accidental outage" caused by just a bad sting of code. No, shit like this it tested very thoroughly in a TEST environment as well as a development environment before it would be moved to a live environment. Nah, there's absolutely more to this, and I would (just me spit balling) think this might be a white hat operation as part of the DS take down.
