I can do things on my computer, but I have no idea how the gears turn. If you switch to Linux, does your computer look and operate the same, do all you your programs still work? Or are you starting over? Or does Linux control windows? I'm so confused
You can get, with some tweaks, a windows-esque experience. If you started on Win XP (or older) it is LESS of a transition than it is to Win 11, and arguably to a Mac desktop.
Any major app (browser, email client, word processing) is close enough.
Some apps can run natively with some pro-level toys like Proton, which is how Steam runs Windows games on their Linux steam deck.
