I think it is taking longer than they would like to come up with a suitable story to explain away the incident.

They had the threat from Iran. I wonder if any of Crooks' "foreign" accounts are in Iran? It was all worked out. They would have a great excuse for bombing Iran and every Trump supporter would be behind it as well as all the usual war hawks.
