This article from The Hill is dated 5/2/2020, but it could have been written yesterday:
Next, they worry that another shoe could drop regarding questions related to Biden’s son Hunter and his business dealings. Lastly, some Democrats are concerned about Biden’s age and possible cognitive issues — a concern that some also have expressed about Trump.
For those reasons, and a few more, might we envision Biden being privately talked into retiring from the race or voluntarily doing so himself? Let’s assume that happens just before or just after the party’s convention, in whatever form it is held. What would happen then?
The process is actually fairly straightforward. If Biden quits the race right before the convention, delegates would select a new nominee. If he drops out right after the convention, members of the Democratic National Committee would pick their replacement candidate.
...one particular, truly out-of-the-box combination stops the discussion in its tracks: Hillary Clinton as the nominee and Barack Obama as her running mate.
I'm sure the delegates will give all Dem candidates other than Hillary a fair shot just like the DNC did to Bernie Sanders.
I don't see it because Obama isn't eligible to be President should the need arise, and I don't see him being second fiddle to Hilldawg after 8 years as POTUS.
Having said that, who the heck really knows these days.
Didn’t I read somewhere if as Vice President he can replace the current President? Means Hillary runs stays in office 5 years and give O’Bummer 3 years?
I never heard of that. I'm too lazy to go look it up unless they announce that ticket, lol. I just don't think it can be done.
The article claims to address that concern. It's only a claim.
Also it's a common tactic for the second in command to be calling the shots while the #1 is just a figurehead. See Bush/Cheney or Ford/Rockefeller.
Now that we're in 2024, I think it'd be Michelle over Barack. There have been too many shots fired across Barry's bow for him to be a safe play at this point. Larry Sinclair comes to mind. Though they're both fair game regarding the paddleboard incident.
I think Big Mike is a possibility but heshe wouldn't have a chance. I don't think Hillary would either.
It's almost like we are watching the destruction of the old guard. :-) Between now and next January is going to be interesting, and even more so after that.
