It's not a non-sequitur at all. The original question was about the treasury secretary, then the love fest answer, then the followup question that once again asked if he was being considered for treasury secretary, and he said he'd consider it.

Of course that doesn't mean commitment. The media reported that he was being considered, which comes from trump's own words.

This is directly a quote from the interview. It's not a lie, it's specifically what he said in the interview with Bloomberg, that he may be considering him for the position
