I panned down the list of videos on the channel and it looked like China was about to have armageddon. I probably overreacted. I am subscribed to "Little Chinese Everywhere". I am sure that one is heavily edited by the state though.
Most Westerners have been fed a steady diet of highly propagandized stories promoting the glories of China. The reality of China is far different. For those of us that have been keeping a close eye on China for years have a more realistic view of China versus the rosy image the CCP promotes. Getting reliable information out of China is difficult because the media is so censored. Many of the channels that report events taking place in China do so by viewing what videos and social media posts manage to jump the great fire wall. I guess that's why it may have a tabloid feel to it. Let's put it this way - things are not good for the Chinese people right now. They call it the garbage time of history. Xi is moving the country back to Maoism and is reversing the opening up policies of Deng Xiaoping. Social stability and the survival of the party takes precedence above all else.
I know the headlines scream “tabloid trash” but I listened to one by accident and was pleasantly surprised. So, I kept listening and realized it seems like a compilation of current news stories and comments from “netizens” who are Chinese. I keep hearing that term. I’m not sure which forum they’re taking the comments or interviews from, not sure if Reddit is ccp approved but it seems very much like an underground site revealing what MSM and ccp state news doesn’t.
You have to be very courageous and willing to risk all in China if you speak out against the govt, Xi or the country. I have a lot of compassion for the people coming forward. It’s worth spreading their stories, imho. Maybe it’s fake but I don’t think so, based on what others who have boots on the ground are aging.
Idk, I’m glad you gave it a chance. I’ve been interested in China for several years now and have seen all the garbage sites.. trust me. Thanks for the follow up. Appreciate it.
