In the spiritual realm, there is no such thing as time. Every moment is eternity. But some folks engage with (and can only understand) the material world aspect of time by projecting on the spiritual realms. But resurrection is real, and happens for those who have departed as well as those alive now.
Anyone who believes that God would condemn his own children to hell "forever" has no grasp of the heart of the Father. They are like children who think they understand everything their Father does, and interprets their Father through their own limited eyes.
To truly experience God's heart, one has to become so deeply entwined with Jesus that Jesus own heart becomes a real, burning part of one's daily experience.
