If you are alluding to the episode of the Liberty, I read a very comprehensive analytical article about that in the Naval Institute Proceedings, possibly in the 70s. Israel admitted responsibility, apologized, claimed it a case of mistaken identity (vs. Egyptian ship), and made two reparation payments to the bereaved families.
Now that we see the behavior of the U.S. in the Ukrainian theater, I would not have been surprised if the Israeli command suspected the Liberty of sharing intelligence with the Egyptians. We were there to snoop, not to fish for tarpon. Those who choose to linger at the fringe of a fight have little ground for complaint if a fist comes their way. Don't you agree it would have turned out differently if the U.S. had announced its purpose to the Israeli government and offered to share intelligence only with Israel? Which makes me think the purpose was to share it with Egypt.
