The Venezuelan military has rejected calls by the opposition to intervene after President Nicolas Maduro won another term in a contested vote.

The army are armed civil servants, their loyalty is to the 3 P’s, pay, pension and perks. The government pay them. If they side with the citizens they don’t get paid.

People expecting the military to be honourable are naive.

Balance of power has moved from the people to the civil servants, the only role citizens have now is to pay taxes.
