I always check for this particular connection. My great-grandparents were Lithuanian Jewish immigrants. However, I was raised as a Christian so I never practiced Judaism. Of course I researched my family history both on my Father's side (Jewish) and my mother's side (French/Spanish). What I discovered is that the vast majority of European Jews have no genetic condition to the ancient Hebrews or Israelites. They were converts to a form of Judaism (Ashkenazi).
