The UK used to have local cops, but they federlized them about some bullshit story of local corruption. And don't get me wrong their probably was some, but now the situation is far worse. Cops don't give as shit about the local community anymore, their family doesn't live their.
Thats is why I never supported Federalizing LE here. Having been with the SD we know and speak with the people in our community. We had their support and they had our support.
That's the very key. The community has to support tthe police, and vice versa. My next-door neighbor was a cop, I knew him fairly well. His mother and sister lived in the neighborhood, and he worked hard to keep them and us safe.
I also know guys in the local guard. If the shit hits the fan, they are on our side.
And they could be reliably sure. That their local leaders. Though often Hereditary Lords. At least depending on the specific era. Were often born and raised in the isles if not in the same region they were ruling over and didn’t move to the area to win an election and use it as a stepping stone. But actually had and maintained a relationship with the area and it’s people beyond the generic political platitudes of modern elected officials.
Not particularly shocking. Some albeit small Polls so do take it with a grain of salt. Of the U.S Population are showing similar sentiments.
In that growing numbers of people. Particularly among the young. Are becoming decidedly less likely to approve of Democratic and Republican ideals. The Government ideas. Not the political parties. And more likely to approve of Authoritarian government measures. Such as empowering the executive to ignore the courts or Congress at will. Granted that’s probably assuming whoever in power will do things that they find favorable with the additional authority.
Which shouldn’t necessarily be surprising. Given the younger generation’s primary experience with Republican and Democratic Ideals. Has been getting screwed by the people and systems who are supposed to embody those values. While older generations remember however distantly. A Time where it seemed like Congress wasn’t there to solely make the American Publics lives worse and spend us into debt by approving seemingly bottomless budgets like a rubber stamp. And the courts made more of effort to enforce the law equally regardless of the defendant’s personal wealth and connections. Not that it actually did. But there was more of a public effort to make it appear so.
ITA not particulary shocking. History repeats itself. We had our own version of a Tea Party at the bay.
I remember that time you mentioned. Time to restore to what it was at the beginning.
Their Government has declared War on them.
Sad but true.
They forgot. The number one job of govt is to protect it's citizens from foreign invasion.
Not let them in an give them the fruits of your labor....
In the Old days they had small local bands of warriors to protect the people, those days are probably looking better and better.
One thing we have is that most of our police are born and raised locally and have strong ties to the community. All the cops in the UK are federal
Amen, and Obummer was pushing to Federalize all LE for this very reason.
We dodge a bullet, when that didn't pass.

Amen, this is why I told the new hires to get out of the patrol car and talk with the people in the community. That was then today I am not seeing it.

Britons need to stop talking to pollsters and start participating.
The truth is now being revealed to the world.

When was Britain ever a "democracy?"
The people in the UK deserve better.
