I think the reason why we are in this mess isn’t because of lack of Christian faith.
It’s due to the fact that a large part of our government can operate under secrecy.
We could put in all Christian believers.
As long as they are allowed to say “This is classified due to national security”
People will 100 percent abuse power in that situation.
It won’t matter their faith.
It’s isn’t about faith to me: It’s about secrets.
As long as the people in power can openly keep secrets under the guise of national security.
This destruction will continue.
My question is fundamentally, why do you think they keep secrets? What's the outlook on life that allows people running the show (the Politicians, President, corporate heads, wealthy elite, etc.) to keep their secrets irrespective of their excuse? Is it not their view of God...or their view that He either doesn't exist or that God is the bad guy in the cosmic struggle between good and evil. Again, the powers that be (those responsible for withholding the truth or propagandizing with outright falsehood to the American people) do so because their wannabe god is the father of lies and tells them they can. People who's god is the prince of darkness tells them that they make their own rules and are in no way accountable to their Creator. So our leaders by-and-large won't tell us the truth because it would expose their corruption, their greed, their perversion and debauchery and they do this with no moral misgiving because they operate on and entirely different set of rules and are answerable to no one but themselves!
Of course not all those who claim to be Christian believers are sincere...but, we must start somewhere. A litmus test for the character of a man is his view of God...or put another way...a man lives his life in direct correlation to what he believes about the God of the Bible...the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob...or put another way still, what a man believes about the God of the Bible will determine how he lives his life. I qualify God because not all of man's gods are indeed gods. Many would rest their character on the god of Islam, but I in no way would trust the character of a man who believes their god condones the marriage between a 45 year old male and a six year old baby girl! ONLY the God of the Bible has fitfully stood the test of time as the one true God, Creator and Savior. So...America's problem isn't the overuse of the "National Security" excuse...this is only a symptom of a deeper problem...one that starts at the heart and is spiritual in nature.
Aiming to have leaders (in reality they are our employees) who believe (or live their lives like they believe) and are answerable to God for their actions should be the first and foremost requirement for Public Office or Service. If we start here, I believe the National Security issue will (as will all other issues) become non-issues.
You make some valid points.
However, I've come to realize that their so-called god isn't the father of lies. What I've observed is that the reason they've managed to put so many people under their spell isn't because they're lying—it's because they're using the truth to deceive.
The most effective way to control people isn't through lies, as lies can be uncovered over time. Instead, the best way to manipulate people is by distorting the truth—either by exaggerating or downplaying it.
This is how those with bad intentions manage to get away with their actions. They present the truth, but by either amplifying or minimizing the facts, they mislead others.
