Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Absolutely. I have gout and maintaining pH level is very important in making sure I dont get a gout attack. I have been suffering from gout for almost 10 years, and nothing I did helped, but for the last 1.5 years I have been managing my pH levels and not a single attack. My doctor was baffled. (But he said "we will never know why your uric acid levels dropped", but thats a different story).
What I do is very simple. Also, I used to check my ph levels regularly, but I have stopped. I can start feeling the tingling in my foot when it gets too acidic and then I know I have been slacking.
So what do I do? Every night before going to sleep (and at least an hour after the last meal, which isn't an issue since I also do IF), I squeeze a quarter of a lime into a glass of water. I add 1/8 tsp of baking soda, mix it and enjoy the fizz. Thats it!
Its amazing how well this works. Some people say that if you drink a pinch of vinegar in warm water first thing in the morning on empty stomach and at least a hour before eating anything else, it works as well.
BTW, I used to do jus backing soda, but I find the lime + baking soda much much more effective.
Also, all the water I drink is not with a pinch of himalayan pink salk. Not sure about pH, but it definitely does wonders for hydration, and I think that in turn helps not just acidit but other things like detoxing as well.
Wow, that is awesome! I was trying a couple years ago with lemon juice, maybe lime I don't recall but didn't seem to notice any change in PH. Kind of what I'm noticing now, well unless I seemingly take copious amounts of baking soda.
So you take yours before bed, maybe I'll try this as well instead of mixing with drinking water through the day. Especially with weather cooling down my water intake will dwindle too.
The salt is just to add some nutrients back into the water, PHS because that's what I have. Video I saw mentioned sea salt and that's what I'll get when I need to reup. I was actually thinking of trying some Dead Sea salt. I've been on a Dead Sea kick, last bar soaps I got were Dead Sea salt & charcoal.
Thanks BB!
I have heard from couple of doctors that whats important is to use "living sea salts" so the mineral content is constantly balanced by nature. This excludes dead sea salt and the Utah salt lake salt, even though both are highly popular amongst hydration experts. Not claiming this as gospel, just something to keep in mind.
I use pink salt for cooking, but Indian black salt for hydrating, simply because i love its eggy taste and they both seem to work well.
