There's a few different things to address here. As for the books found within the Bible, Yes I believe they were given under the direction of the Holy Spirit and therfore are solid. As for what we know as the canon, it may suprise you to know there are many books that were in the original 1611 KJV that aren't in today's modern translations. As far as my favorite apocryphal books (Enoch, Jebilees, and Jasher) there are some legitimate discrepancies in them and the reason they weren't included in the "western" Canon, however some were included in the Ethiopian Canon and aren't "hidden" in the sense you can't find them. I read them as a commentary in light of the canon and have gain much for it. Keep in mind the word of God has been under attack also from the beginning.
"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"
As for the Church being Evil, I think this is an unfair generalization. Are there Evil people who've used the guise of Christianity or the Church to do horrible things, well of course but there are also Churches who do good in the community.
I think it wise that you stray from the original canon. I think it wiser that you study all religions. They are all telling the same story.
All cultures have a flood myth, their version of Noah. Greek, Mesopotamian, Hindu, Native American, ect. Most of the characters also, Lucifer is Prometheus in Greek history, Moses is Karna in Hinduism, Thutmose III in Egyptian and Sargon of Akkad in Sumerian just to name a couple. Our true history is being hidden from us and the Catholic Church is the main culprit.
The reason for the Church is to keep the other religions separate (compartmentalized) to create conflict and war of the self-righteous. To spawn hate and fear by demonizing other religions by calling them pagan, or myth, or evil, or eradicating them altogether (Mayan, Gnostic, ect.). So people will be scared and apprehensive of learning about other religions and finding the truth. Exactly like the Democratic Party does by dividing people into categories to create conflict and demonize the other side, its the same playbook.
Is it the Church doing good in the communities or is it human nature? Because I can think of a lot of organizations that do good in the community but are in no way related to a church. Sure there are good people in the church, Im sure there are good people in the Democratic Party that doesn't mean Im going to align myself with it. I just find them misguided.
It's a bit shortsighted on your behalf to assume I do not have any experience in your talking points. I do both through personal experience and research, in fact, I use to share some of the same ideas and I actually agree with your point that nearly all cultures and religions share similar aspects especially surrounding the flood. This is because they share a similar root and that root is Nimrod's Babylon, at the scattering of the people and confusion of languages each people group restarted their culture with an adaption of their previous belief. As for your insistence in referring to the church as that solely of the Roman Catholic Church and not the Body of believers(ekklēsia) I think this is another gross generalization. What you also dont know, is in my opinion Roman Catholicism really isn't Biblical Christianity and more Roman Polytheism masquerading as Christianity. Alexander Hislop's "the two babylons" is an excellent source. Satan is not only the great deceiver he is also the great at mimicry.
