When I was a young boy, I was exposed to top management at a large food and pharmaceutical company through my mother’s work. As a young teen, I could plainly see the difference between the leaders who came up through the “business” ranks and those from the engineering and science side of the business. The business people were almost all dolts and micro managers. In my adult working life, one tech company I worked for had a two-track leadership track, clearly divided between the engineered and scientists and the MBAs. When the B-school and lawyer contingent got control, the company began to fail and is now gone though the name lives on as a zombie.
