Choice quotes from the article:
"...California officials are pushing school districts to convert their surplus property into housing for teachers, school staff and even students and families. Some districts have already started; now the state wants every district to become a landlord."
"If Proposition 2, a $10 billion school facilities bond, passes this fall, schools could use that money to not only repair classrooms and other structures, but build teacher housing. "
"The model state officials often point to is 705 Serramonte in Daly City. The Jefferson Union High School District opened the 122-unit apartment complex in 2022, and it now houses a quarter of the district staff... The district paid for the $75 million project by passing a $33 million bond specifically for teacher housing, and borrowed the rest... Teachers commute(d) from the East Bay and beyond, and the district grappled with a persistent 25% staff turnover rate annually, said district spokesperson Denise Shreve... Since 705 Serramonte opened, the district has had near zero turnover...“We call it ‘adult dorms.’
"A better solution, she said, would be for housing to be left to regional authorities and for the state to fund school districts sufficiently to pay their teachers more."
HOMESCHOOL YOUR KIDS...yes I'm screaming!
I homeschool, I am lucky because I have a kid with a temperament for it and a living situation that is conducive to it. One of my best friends homeschools her oldest, but her younger one simply needs to be in a structured school environment. We need a wide range of solutions that work for all families (ie learning pods).
I homeschooled 8 in the early 90s in Utah, not Mormon and was in a very small town, was best to stay to ourselves. We were there for work my husband did, 4yrs there. I used "hooked on phonics" and I am a book nut, history, geography, civics. All my kids read George Orwell 1984. I taught my boys how to use a sewing machine, they made their own pillows and cases, and I taught my girls how to catch fish and clean them...great times.....UNSCHOOL it's much more fun.
My wife and I homeschooled. Our kids graduated from high school, one at 16 and the other at 17. Both went straight into college. They had twice the education of their friends.
Great parents, SMART..I love to hear this. Wow your kids are leaders now in THIS WORLD. Can normies out there even understand your conversations YOU and YOUR FAMILY have? I am aware people look down on us and don't know what we know, but you have the reciepts to show IT WORKS. Getting rid of fear and superstition is the huge obsticle in most peoples way....you must have success THEIR WAY.....NO MORE LIES NOW.....GOD WINS
Sounds like your kids had a great childhood. :)
Yeah it was great, best thing I ever did, I used to fight the schools all time over their ignorant crap, I was so glad to be DONE with those horrible people....they should teach bull dozing classes, do something 'constructive' with those buildings....flatten em!! Bulldozing 101
