Remember the 2004 movie The Day After Tomorrow? Where a bizarre series of tornados disrupts the Gulf Stream that brings warm air and warm ocean water from the equator up to the northern countries keeping their climate temperate and livable? When the warm currents slow and then stop, a rapid freeze takes hold in the upper part of the U.S and above, ushering in a new ice age.
The first sign was several buoys reporting several degree temperature drops in the North Atlantic!!
Let's hope that these new cooler temps off Florida and in the Atlantic aren't a sign of the thermal currents slowing down!

In the movie it was melting ice (global warming) that caused the current to be disrupted. Desalinization.
Don't ask. I don' know. Just quoting the movie.
