There's not going to be a November election. Shit is going to get very real very soon, just be prepared. Normies are not prepared at all and will suffer the worst.
Get a Honda EU2200i generator. They're super quiet, they're an inverter generator (so you can run sensitive electronics like computers and phones), can run on fuel or propane, and can go 10-24hrs on one gallon of gas. Perfect for an apartment or where you only need to run a fridge, a freezer, and a tv/computer/phone. They're only $1000. As quality, no bs, will last a lifetime generators go, you cant beat that. Couple that with a security door bar for the front door, a 12ga with 00 buck and rubber batons, and an emergency radio, and two 5 gallon fuel jugs, you got yourself secure as a bug for ten days.
Also, if your apartment has an electric range, pick up a Coleman double burner camp stove and some propane for $60. They fold away compactly and are handy in a pinch. That way you can at least cook.
That's the one! Yeah, u have to get the fuel conversion kit separately to run the propane. Last I looked they were like $500. I just run the gasolene since I always keep 100 gallons on hand (I live in the sticks) and preserve it with stabil fuel stabilizer. One cool thing about this specific generator is that, should you ever buy a home or need more power output, you can connect multiples of these generators in series. My parents and I both have the same generator, so we got the cables to allow us to run a whole house, powered separate garage, and a trailer all on just two of these small generators. Also, it weighs like 40lbs, which is an absolute god send for portability. Most of small generators are 100lbs, so this one saves weight. Be sure to pick up engine oil before you start it. It doesn't come with any and it ships empty but it uses a standard small motor oil that is like $5/qt.
Right! A lot of folks overthink this stuff. In our history, unrest is generally sudden, rapid onset, short duration (less than two weeks) with short loss of services and lockdown, focused on urban areas, and not generally a threat to homes. A setup like I listed is affordable, cheap,($1500 total), and directly proportional to the threats you'll likely face. I will add, be sure to chain the generator to the porch so it doesn't walk off. The Fiocchi rubber batons help with that too lol. They work too, tested it on a loose pitbull that attacked me putting out trash one day. At $3/round, they're expensive (come in a ten pack), but they're a great way to send a message without the sound of a full blown gunshot, zero collateral damage, and no going to jail.

I got a ton of meat in a deep freezer, but I live in an apartment. Not sure how I'm going to keep it cold if power goes out.

As for radios, check this out. Solar, battery, AC adapter, and hand crank power. It also gets all the emergency channels. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/hq-issue-digital-multi-band-solar-powered-weather-radio?a=2205939

I don't see where it says it can run on propane.
edit: Would i need a conversion kit like so:

Awesome reply. Thank you. I guess I could run the generator on my porch and run a long electric cord into the apartment to power the freezer.
That's a cool radio and not a bad price.
Re: cooking. I do have a propane grill on the porch so I'll be good there :)

Maintain it as long as possible then make a huge stew and keep it cooking. Never ending stew. Trade some to neighbors for what ever you need.
