The whole Israelite problem of being slaves in Egypt was both warned of by God to Abraham- Genesis 15: 13 - 14...

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

It was repeated as a reminder to Moses: (Exodus 3)

Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

(BTW they were also given much of the wealth of Egypt, as stated in the passage)

One of the reasons Pharaoh and his nation were judged so harshly was the stubborn refusal to both Repent and Remember: Repent from persecuting Jacob's descendants, and a refusal to remember why Egypt was prospering. One of Jacob's sons, Joseph, had saved Egypt and the lives of its people by wise advice given to Pharaoh, but future generations forgot.

So fast forward- When the first of the Plagues fell, there was no distinction declared between Egypt and Jacob's descendants. The plagues simply fell on the land of Egypt, and affected everyone to a lesser or greater degree.

But the sixth through tenth plagues were distinctive, in that the Egyptians were singled out for God's wrath, and Jacob's descendants were covered by God. The plague of darkness was one of the plagues (number nine) where the Egyptians experienced the full consequences, and the land of Goshen was filled with light.

Is it possible that the Democratic states that have gone Solar and are 'sanctuary states' may experience days with no electricity, not because of a natural event, but because their grids get overloaded (or a rogue band of 'migrants' disrupts it?)

A distinction between those who still respect and honor God and those who don't is not unreasonable - But for those in 'blue states', they might need to have some prep, and those in 'red states' who are visiting 'blue states' might as well, just as one from another state would, if visiting Florida during hurricane season.

Just a Thought - However, it should be kept in mind that there are statists (tyrants, whether petty or not so) in every state, so this may be an event for the whole country!
