As a kid we had a local chemist who'd mix up his own remedies for different things, scratches, bumps and sores. But what he was famous for in our local area was his cough syrum. That stuff would stop coughing dead in its tracks. You try find something today that STOPS the coughing. There's nothing.
Anyway he lost his lisence to be a chemist because he wouldn't stop making his own remedies. It was much later as an adult I learned he was acutally a doctor at one stage ...
Very interesting! I lived with bronchitis my whole life until I took Ivermectin recently, but that's a different story, and while traveling in Canada some years ago I discovered a cough medicine which did what you described. My friends up there told me it tastes terrible but it works, which was actually written on the bottle. I wondered why we didn't have it in the US and then a few years later it came down here but they only sold it one chain drug store for the most part and then only a few years later it was gone.
I had that once in Canada too about 10 years ago. I did not look at the name on the bottle but it was fantastic and it did not taste awful it was pretty good. It was kind of a peach color. I had what they called a virus with uncontrolled coughing and nothing the hospitals gave me did anything at all. One day I went to a walk in clinic instead of the hospital and they gave me the good stuff. This stuff stopped it instantly. So actual good medicine is out there somewhere but no one knows where to get it.
