So if he truly does no taxes on tips, then there should be no income tax on anything.
In other words, if I make 200 a day in tips and you make 200 a day for a wage, why should you be taxed and I’m not? That is not fair in the least, and just my thoughts, as someone who has been a tipped worker.
So if he does that, I think all income taxes will go away.
Would be epic!
I think Trump is just prepping the ground for elimination of all income taxes. Start with No Tax on Tips and no tax Social Security, get the normies used to it, and then as they're asking "why do we still have to pay income taxes?" Trump can push elimination of FIT, the Fed, and all the unconstitutional taxes that have been foisted on us and the normies will happily go along.
And just thinking about this further, Trump is also slowly getting tariffs back into the conversation. He mentions tariffs seemingly during every rally, interview, etc. Again, preparing the normies for the economic shift that's coming.
I do like your thinking, but the 2 aren't the same. Tips are a gift or donation - they aren't part of your salary or wages. Legally they should've never been taxed in the first place. If the IRS wanted they could try to get tips classified as a true gift but unless the worker is in a high-end place where they get a ton of tip money from the same person in a year it still won't be taxable. If it passed the gift tax threshold it could be taxable, but not for the worker - for the donor.
Here - this is in English and not IRSese: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/taxes/gift-tax-rate
But see, the wage is $2.13 per hour for servers. Has been that low since I was in the industry, the 90’s. No base wage increase, so the server relies on the tips to make a living wage. Bartenders always made more per hour than I did, but the concept is the same. The taxes were based on the sales.
Oh I agree. I didn't say it was fair. I am however surprised nobody has decided to organize and fight this in the public with ads, interviews, articles, videos - stuff designed to wake people up to what is happening to people like you.
