Trump isn't a threat to democracy.

He's a threat to the threat to democracy.

He can't be bought, bribed, browbeaten, blackmailed, or bullied. THAT'S why they attack, vilify, revile, slander, libel, and gush forth hate like a volcano on him.

They can't own him. So they had to disown him.

EDIT: No lesson on Republic vs. democracy needed, thanks - using the word democracy in the standard definition of "government by the people through elected representatives". We're still a Constitutional Republic.
