I’ve been a nurse for the last 15 years. Some of that includes travel assignments to various states. I recently took a position closer to home, and for the first time the subject of immunizations along with dates — as a mandatory as part of the on-boarding.

I’m used to this for travel typically- I would show them my titers. No-one has requested my immunization’s card along with titers. She said it was a change to OSHA’s requirements.

For this position-I showed them my quantiferon titer… They wanted to do their own, which was fine, but when I went upstairs, I saw they were drawing three tubes of blood. When I asked her what it was for, she said they were for all my titers. (4 tubes for 1 Quantiferon test?) What??

I think it’s interesting that the government wants to check our blood specifically to see if we have the antibodies for those Specific illness’s.

I also find it suspect that they dropped 20,000 Haitians in Ohio…without a care to their titers or any of their immunizations.

Any thoughts on this?
