Yeah, we really need to get back to the basics. A lot of people say things like, "who is going to pay for the Interstate system?". We don't need it. Seriously, America was built on people living close to home and working hard. Easy travel has turned this country into a mad house. If it was harder to move, people would be more invested in their local communities and fixing their problems. Instead, we have Californians leaving their destitute state and bringing their same broken policies and agendas. Make them fix their own shit and leave the rest of us alone. If you really want a road that badly, you can build it yourself, and set up a toll booth. If it is useful, then other people will pay to use it. It really is that simple.
Every commercial truck in the USA pays $550.00 Road Use Tax every year. That's federal. Each state puts a tax on fuel. That is state tax. There is plenty of revenue for the interstates and state roads. Why are the roads in such bad shape? Where does the money go???
All that money is wasted. Just give them back the money and let the truckers build their own roads where they need. It will be much more efficient because they won't build useless roads to little towns in the middle of nowhere.
Why not just make all of the hours tax free? And eliminate property tax too.
You know what? The government wouldn't need so much tax if it wasn't so massively enormous!
