Well Noah was considered righteous and received the warning from God and we know that others spoke with him so its pretty easy to see that he explained what he was doing and why and his explanation served as a warning. But even in absence of a outright warning the people had been wicked for a very long time and had rejected God not only in word but in deed. Like i said it is only a matter of time until God deals with pervasive wickedness. But the story of Noah is a harbinger of Gods willingness to save those who will follow him and repent from a wicked life. This is most fully realized in Christs life, death, and resurrection.
Ohhh, OK..."Others spoke with him" so that served as a warning to the whole world of people. Come on now. Dude wiped out every single life form on the planet but Noah's family and their ridiculous menagerie on a boat. You actually think they were real and they re-populated all the people on Earth today in just a short time. They repopulated all the plants and animals that god killed (all of them, right? All life on Earth was destroyed iirc.} We know there are millions (billions?) of species in this world. Just try asking yourself how that could possibly work. They gathered each pair of creatures and took care of them till they could run free again on the slopes of Mt. Ararat and spread out from there...
