The U.S. State Department says a Christian pastor from California has been freed from China after nearly 20 years behind bars and is back home in the U.S.

Glad they were released. Were they jailed specifically for proselytizing?

Not that I believe the CCP at all (no communists tell the truth from my experience & understanding), though a claim of contract fraud was also a reason to lock them up. Unfortunately there isn't any real discussion about that.

Pruely speculating, maybe the claim of contract fraud had to do with improper paperwork registering the church.
