That was the front end. Don't know if it was 23&me, but I remember a story about one of those DNA ancestry services where a tech said she'd flub the results of white clients by adding 1% black or whatever, just incase it was a 'white supremacist' to make them feel bad. The backend of these are of course to collect information to sell. Having a cataloged database of the DNA profiles of millions of people, cross referenced to where they were sent from, could be very valuable in ways normal people can't even begin to comprehend. Like you wouldn't think the data collected from millions of users shitposting on Facebook would be worth billions, yet it was.
I'm pretty sure the entire purpose of 23& me was to dilute the ethnicity of....certain peoples.
"Wow! I'm 41% black! I'm certainly going to act differently now! "

This happened to my Russian / Italian buddy. His dad immigrated here and his mom's parents were 100% Italian.
His Ancestry DNA analysis said he was 1% Jewish.
1% jewish, of a group of people that's 2-3% in total.
Such horseshit.
The DNA was collected to make targeting bioweapons more effective.
We have a winner!
