Was Trump Attacked With an Infrared Laser, Sending 20+ People to the ER?

The weapon is compact and the light is invisible. Nobody would feel anything until later. Is there a better explanation for what happened?

That was as my first thought when I heard about this story. The eye symptoms are usually indicative of a flash burn from UV light. Learned that very painful lesson on USS Nimitz flight deck my first day loading bombs/missiles.
