Watching a football game the other night and I noticed 2 separate commercials that looked like a public service announcement encouraging people to adopt teenagers. My questions are, where are the children, what happens to them once the are rescued and how can we help. There are going to be a lot of messed up children who are going to need love and care. What can we do?

It's not a new problem, but at least in the past, the foster system was made up of children taken from parents who were drug addicts or in prison. At least that's how the system was and still is "advertised." to be.
For a while, foster parenting seemed to be more about the federal money that came with the children. Adoption definitely seems like a much better solution.
Agree. We had a planned adoption during an unwanted pregnancy, papers signed. The baby was positive for drugs at birth turning her into a system baby with a check. They found a relative that wanted her. Devastation. System baby #10 for this mom. $5,000 a month paychecks just with this 1 mom.
So sorry, I know that had to be a huge blow. Was the mother allowed any choice in that decision?
No, it was an aunt with 6 of the 10 kids that stepped up. Mom signed away her rights at birth. The baby was immediately adoptable through the system, but until a check was attached, she was unwanted. If the baby would have not been drug positive, the adoption would have been finalized. Sick. Just sick.
That's so sad not for you and for the child. I hope you are able to give a child a good home in the future. 🙏🏻
