Couple weeks ago I read an article that was based on the maxim “A’s hire A’s but B’s hire C’s”. Meaning that the most competent workers, the A’s, surround themselves with competence because they want the organization to succeed more than they want their own egos to shine. The slightly less competent, the B’s, are insecure and view highly competent people as personal competition, challenges, or threats, and avoid them. So the B’s hire less competent people than themselves (C’s) in order to make themselves look better, and it forms a downward spiral. Once an organization hires or promotes based on something besides merit, the whole organization eventually, or perhaps inevitably, becomes converged and actively anti-merit.
The “masters” are B’s at best, so they use the excuse of diversity hiring to make themselves shine by surrounding themselves with nonwhite and/ or female C’s, D’s, F’s, etc. Then no one in the organization will want to hire a white A as they’ll try to hide their envy and insecurity behind bs crybaby claims of “white privilege”.
