L'ordre de Cincinnatus was dedicated to replicating the success of the American Revolution in France, then Poland, Germany, Spain and beyond. Membership required qualifying service in the army or navy of France, or of the United States in the war for American independence. It was led from 1824-1830 by war hero, the Marquis Lafayette. The degeneration of the French Revolution into tyranny and terror extinguished this drive for freedom across Europe.
The American equivalent, the Society of Cincinnati, was filled with like minded patriots.
