It seems to me that since we are the taxpayers that these are our employees and our helicopters. We paid for this equipment and we pay all of the salaries. "The Government" is just the intermediary.
It seems to me that if they aren't doing their jobs according to job description, then the "employers", ie, the taxpayers, should be able to take action. Lives and well-being are at stake here. Either these pilots, who are presumably American citizens, do their job or we replace them with those who will. Would it be far fetched to invoke a citizens arrest for anyone who is failing their job description and who also refuses to get out of the way so someone else can?
They are paid public servants. We should not be subject to this abuse and neglect by these same public servants.
Sometimes, I'm left feeling as if we all suffer from at least a little bit of sheep/victim syndrome when it comes to the govt. While breaking out of that is of course easier said than done, how much more can we take?
