the mundane reality is there is a huge logical and logistical difference between AFFECTING the weather and CONTROLLING the weather.

God bless you for trying, but as you say people really want to believe that PEOPLE are in charge. People would rather have malevolent people in charge than no people in charge. Or should I say...God/the cosmos in charge.

This is the most pernicious part. The idolatry of human power in the face of God's own universe, and how it operates. How many people have I heard in recent weeks who claim to follow God's ways...but STILL want to believe that their lives are controlled by evil deeds of evil people.
