Can you imagine 5 years ago that the Dems would fuk this up so bad that a law from 1798 would have to be called on? This is 2024 WTF is going on with the dems
The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 is a law that allows the president to detain or deport non-citizens from enemy nations during wartime. It was passed as part of the Alien and Sedition Acts, which were a response to the undeclared "Quasi-War" with France. The Alien Enemies Act is still in effect today, and has been invoked multiple times, including during the War of 1812 and World War I. Here are some key points about the Alien Enemies Act: Powers The president can use the act to arrest, relocate, or deport non-citizens from enemy nations, regardless of their legal status or loyalty. The president can act based on the country of birth or citizenship of the non-citizen, and without a hearing. History The Alien Enemies Act has been used against immigrants who were lawfully present in the United States and showed no signs of disloyalty. It was last invoked during World War II to intern immigrants of Japanese, German, and Italian descent. Constitutionality The Alien Enemies Act has been upheld by federal courts, and the Supreme Court noted in 1948 that it has remained the law of the land since 1798. However, some say the act is overbroad and may violate constitutional rights.
“However, some say the act is overbroad and may violate constitutional rights.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but if someone is not a citizen of the US, then they do not have our constitutional rights.

You are mistaken. The constitution limits the powers of our government, and it does not give rights to us.
Instead, our rights are inherent to ourselves, granted by God, and they were ours before our constitution was written. The constitution reflects the rights and powers we give to government, not the other way around.
The Bill of Rights was originally seen as an unnecessary addition, but it made explicit some specific areas in which the government cannot tread over the individual's God-given freedoms. (And thank God they added it in!)
Bullshit. The US Constitution limits the power of the government over the citizens of the United States. Period. The US Constitution does not apply to citizens or natives of OTHER COUNTRIES.
You are correct in that the constitution does limit government, but I believe Baffled explained it best in that our rights as US citizens doesn’t apply to citizens of other nations, especially those who entered the wrong way.
Yeah, I explained it poorly. I meant only to respond to the portion about granting rights.
It was used against citizens of foreign descent. Thats the problem. People who came here and became citizens shouldn't be faced with this.
I agree, however I don’t see that happening under Trump because Melania is a naturalized citizen.
