Florida has more experience with this kinda thing. That and last I was aware the Gas is ‘Free’ out courtesy of Governor DeSantis and the state budget covering costs. 10 Gallons for each person affected was the last I heard.
I saw clips of them rolling lines of Tankers through under very Heavy Police Escort. In fact for a minute I had thought they’d fucked up the clips and I was seeing Trumps Motorcade instead of the Fuel Convoy.
In NC though. I don’t think they can actually truck in Fuel to many of the places. Entire sections of Interstate and Road are just gone. As well as God knows how many Bridges. Dams and other infrastructure.
And the makeshift Bridges they’ve thrown up are just that. Makeshift. Probably unlikely to handle a Full Tanker particularly well.
My daughter lives in Florida, says it's pretty bad, only a few gas stations have gas, the grocery stores don't have any meat, dairy, produce... Stores are pretty empty of food. She said that stores with generators so they could keep the cold stuff good, had their gas stolen so all the food went bad. Said people have been aggressive. They still have some flooded areas, she said the flooding got worse after the storm passed.
As of today tje 15th, it is much better in most parts. I'm central Florida directly eat of Tampa. We just got power Sunday night. Today our gas lines have finally pretty much gone away. Stores are relatively well stocked. We are dealing with flash flooding on the withlacootchee, it's flood waters tend to move to west. The river runs south to north up the center. Green swamp is the deepest it's been in 100 years. It's one of the low areas that catches a lot of rhe. Water from floods. The coast are gonna take awhile. What Helena spated Milton thrashed.
She lives slightly north of Tampa, near the coast, in evacuation zone area. She hasn’t mentioned anything about getting free gas. I’ll ask her about it.
Edit: My daughter said they do have the free gas thing where she is too, but fights are breaking out and her friend sat in line for 3 hours and they ran out of gas before she could get some. Said it's just been crazy there, her and her bf haven't been able to work. And fentanyl has been bad there for a while, when they can make enough money to move, they will, but right now they are broke. I had to pay for a hotel in another state for them & my grandchild to evacuate. Now that they have been home, she says the stores are not stocked, gas in a few places and they haven't been able to go back to work yet. Even schools are still out.

I understand FL is reeling from Milton. The governor really has the process down to a “T”.
Wish he’d lend his expertise to NC and TN who are still dying from Helene
He did send help to NC. We had Florida's there sonde sent help to get them out.
