This is why Bible touched be so deeply. I thank my friend who suggested I should read the Gospels first, before trying to dig into the rest of the Bible, because when I read Jesus' words and actions, all I could feel was the deep empathy he had for everyone. I finally understood what Jesus has been about.
This is why I feel very sad when I see people who use Bible as a weapon to put everyone down and judge everyone and twist every verse. And they genuinely think they are good Christians.
WThat was a great suggestion by your friend and I also love to recommend Psalms. It's just pure praise, love, despair, joy and more all crying out to The Lord..
I feel sad also about the hypocrisy and legalism used by some Christians as leverage over others. Legalism killed Jesus.
How can we be the living example of Jesus' love if we're arguing with each other...
Yes, but also Jesus killed Legalism. He always debated the Pharisees and always defeated them at their own logic.
And from what I understood from the Acts of the Apostles, Jesus "reset" the God's teachings from old testament, which were very rigid rules that got loopholed by the Pharisees into a new system where it was based on the spirit of the God rather than the word of law.
I think we need that same reset again. We cant have thousands of pages of rules and regulations for every aspect of life, and whoever finds the better loop hole gets to rule the rest.
Thanks for the recommendation of Psalms, I have been kinda lost as to what to read next, so I will take it up.
You are correct fren...when Jesus started His Ministry He turned the Pharisees world upsidedown just like when He flipped the tables in the Temple. They simply couldn't understand Him. I like the term reset and I truly believe we will have one..I have tremendous hope for the future of God's beautiful world and would be thrilled if everyone was simply kind to each other.
I believe the two most momentous times in history would be to live when Jesus walked the earth and now to witness God cleansing His world.
I think you will enjoy Psalms... it's beautiful poetry!
