Anyone with even an iota of political instinct would have made that choice. "Oh, OK, I disagree/hate Christianity/Christians/Christ, but I'm in the middle of a drive for the popular vote, and it's a majority Christian nation, so I'll just keep my Willie-hole closed and move on to the next bit of my next scripted wordbelch."

Long ago someone described her as the quintessential nasty resentful domineering condescending HR lady, and I've never heard her more accurately depicted. She just keeps being that.
