They are not Amish. Mennonite have similarities however that doesn’t alter the narrative. In fact the support is likely way deeper because the Amish won’t do interviews or post their intentions.
I reside in Lancaster County, and you are absolutely correct regarding the 2 young girls being Mennonite. They are a distinct, separate group from the Amish, although share similarities. This was a distinct error on the part of the interviewer. The remainder of those he spoke to to were Amish.
Mennonites are more "worldly." Many use technology, such as electricity and own and drive cars and are much more integrated into mainstream society.
Best dairy ever there in Lancaster county and the green dragon was a dream for those wanting to buy produce and groceries not from big farma. Anybody who wants a vacation with some pretty scenery needs to visit there.
Always pass there....never been to green dragon market. I know the dairy you are talking about I think its the utters something. Maybe utter's choice
I live in western PA but vacationed there often.
My Mom's side of the family are Mennonite. Your statement about being more "worldly" is not correct. There are many "Orders" within Mennonite community. Old Order are horse and buggy, all in black, and have no electricity or phone lines on property. Then there are varying degrees of New Orders that allow a phone but not electricity, ore allow cars but must be all black and not flashy... and everything in between. When we go to a family reunion the parking lot will have both cars and buggies and some in all black and others allow blue and some lighter colour patterns for dresses.
