I really have no idea what's giving the dollar any value right now. It used to be the official currency for buying crude oil but from what I understand, several countries have started purchasing crude oil using other currencies. It used to be if you tried to sell your oil for any other currency other than dollars, you'd get invaded by the U.S. Military.
