My conservative sister passed away this week but not before she mailed in her absentee ballot. She lived in Maricopa County.
Autopsy is scheduled Nov. 1st. She was 75 but on kidney dialysis. It was her time albeit sooner than many of us had expected, She is one of 6 siblings and was the first to go. We know she is in a better place.
She died alone in her home. We only found out today. The rest of us siblings all live on the East Coast. She wasn't answering her phone so we asked for a well check on her. Police said she'd been dead for 3 or 4 days. Her dog was alive but very happy to see them. I have a sibling who is her executor and he'll be flying out there to take care of all the details and bring the dog back to another sibling who wants him. In the meantime her ex husband has the dog.
I looked up AZ info on dying before election day after mailing in a ballot. Here's what I found out:
“A vote is considered legally cast once an eligible voter places it in the mail or drop box,” said Taylor Kinnerup of the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office. “It is not based on if the person is alive once it’s counted.”
sorry for you loss. your sister got one last vote in :)
