EDIT: heard a great theory just now. The phone could be recording and streaming to the cloud. The guy is just and idiot and willing to break his phone to get a cool tiktok video.
The guys is pointing at it to get Trump to look at it, and at first it did look like a piece of paper attached to it like he wanted Trump to sign it. But after zooming in, the white blockiness does just seem like the phone screen. But it does look thicker than a normal phone. Weird indeed. and when it breaks open, it does look like cellphone components.
I can't think of why someone would do that maliciously, they could have easily pelted the phone at him. I don't see the purpose of it being a test run either, to see how the secret service would react, you'd just make them more cautious.
