Nothing is guaranteed. You have to Think about it like chess, (game theory) just because you see a win in five or six moves, the other side still has moves they can make that will harm you.
Don't know what that post said, but we've supposedly had them in "check" for quite a long time now. Often when you end up in that position, you end up just delaying the inevitable until you're checkmated.
SOME situations can be escaped, but not always.
