My Dad was 18 and landed on Iwo Jima at age of 18. He was the son of Italians that immigrated to this country after World War 1. When he joined the service, the community was so proud they published his enlistment in the Italian section of a Philadelphia newspaper.
My father in law was a POW that survived the Bataan Death March and a Japanese prisoner of war camp.
Neither parent talked about their experience and were proud to serve their country.

GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS!
